Last, fill your container 3/4 the way to the top with the vodka. Fold in half, cut side out, and stuff them into the container.
I used 4 vanilla beans per 1/2 cup of vodka.
As for the vodka, you can see what I used Monopolowa from distilled potatoes. You can pick your own. Some websites state you can use bottom-shelf liquor but I wouldn't recommend that. I'd say stick with mid-shelf just so your product turns out nice. Especially if you are using as Christmas gifts.
The extract does need to sit for 8 weeks before it is ready.

1 bottle/container
1 bottle potato vodka
8 vanilla beans
- sterilize container
- fill container 3/4 way full with vodka
- slice vanilla bean(s) down the center, fold, and place in container with vodka. Number of beans you use depends on size of container. Usually 4 vanilla beans per 1/2 cup vodka
- fill the rest of the container with vodka
- seal and wait 8 weeks to use
